MBN Youth Division Boat Captains,

Boater Safety Requirements (REGARDLESS OF WHEN YOU WERE BORN):

Since 2024: National B.A.S.S. requires Boater Safety Certification (any State) for ALL National Level Youth, College, and Adult Tournaments. If you are planning on competing at any National Level tournaments MBN advises that you visit this website for information: https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/boating/safety-certificate

This Season (2025) – MBN requires Boater Safety Certification for all Youth Division Boat Captains

MBN advises all members to take a boaters safety class – visit this link https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/boating/safety-certificate

If you have questions pertaining to National BASS – please contact the appropriate National BASS tournament director.

If you have any question pertaining to MBN  – contact Bret Straffon (Adult/College), Greg Quillin (Youth)

There is a cost associated with the certification.  MBN knows of no “free classes” at this time.  If you already have a boaters safety certificated (from any State), please keep a copy of the certificate on your person.  If you took Boater Safety in Michigan and cannot find your certificate you can go here and get a replacement – follow the instructions:
